Music Break: Top 5 Boy Band Song Obsessions

While the rest of the Korean obsessed world has been drawn in by all the new dramas that this year has brought to us, I have been currently been drawn to the more “sexy” side of the Korean world. And by sexy I mean, of course, the boy bands. Gone are the days of boy bands for us unfortunate Americans, so Korean boy bands are the next best thing. While I could go on and on about my favorite bands, I will limit myself to a few favorite songs. Yes I am aware that some of these are older, but these songs have been my life at the gym these past five weeks. Lets just pretend that we all don’t know these songs. Okay? Okay!

Onto the list we go!

Number 5!

Knock out by GD&TOP

This song is the song I blast in my car when I’m going to class in the morning. The beat literally has me on the edge of my seat and also getting weird looks from all who hear my weird music in the morning.

Number 4!

Nice by Got7

These boys are so fun to listen to. Many might find it is surprising that I didn’t choose Just Right over this song. But this song has amazing beats to it that make it fun to bump to in the morning.

Number 3!

Call me Baby by EXO

By now you can tell that my list is based on songs that I can blast in my car which make the most noise possible at 8 in the morning on campus. While this one doesn’t have the bass as the other two, this one is still an amazing song to blare.

Number 2!

Chained Up by Vixx

This song is the bees knees in terms of sexiness. The intro has an amazing beat that gives me tons of energy in the morning. Also for any runners out there, this song is amazing to run to.

And Finally Number 1!

Blanket Kick by BTS

Definitely an outcast in my queue of songs, this songs just makes me so happy. I am a bit biased because BTS happens to my favorite band in the KPOP scene. This song really has the potential to put a huge grin on your face especially if you watch the practice video that goes along with it.

And those are my Top 5 Boy Band Obsessions currently. At the end of the post, I will include links to all these songs on YouTube. Play these songs loud and proud. Ensue weird looks from surrounding people.

The Last Dramas of 2015: A Recap

Hello my loves,

It is now 2016 and the time for new dramas is upon us. During the last month of 2015, I went on a drama watching spree. I was out of school and the archeological dig was on a break for the holidays. I was craving my favorite type of drama, the romance variety. I was completely struck with the dramas I watched.

First up: Noble, My Love

This drama is one of my favorite of the year and of my drama watching career. This drama is packed full of moments that made me go aww. It is based off a webtoon and it is short sweet and to the love. Lee Kang Hoon is a man with money and power in the world. He hates animals and women who don’t follow his orders. Cha Yoon Seo is the exact opposite. She is a vet with a heart of gold. They get together under strange circumstance and the sparks fly. You can finish this drama really fast. I finished my second round of watching in a day. Some say that this drama is clique but I have to differ. This drama is full of great moments.

Second up: Oh my Venus

I really did not think I would love this drama as much as I did. For the simple reason of the subject. This about a woman who weighs approximately 150lbs that is on a journey to lose weight. Her name is Kang Joo Eun who is trying to lose weight after the break up of a 15-year-old relationship. She enlists the help of Kim Young Ho known as John Kim the world famous trainer. The trainer not only captures her heart but her body as well. I really started to love this drama after the first two episodes. My heart was captured under the spell of Kim Young Ho. This had some intense sexual tension as well which is strange for a Korean drama. I adored this drama until the end.

And Last but not Least: She was Pretty

I actually learned of this drama from my boyfriend who saw this on reddit. It is such a beautiful drama. Kim Hye Jin used to be a pretty girl when she was younger and the love of her childhood Ji Sung Joon used to be a fat scared little boy. Now that these two have grown up and the pretty became ugly and the ugly became pretty. The reason I love this drama so much is actually the relationship between Shin Hyuk and Hye Jin. The chemistry between the two is amazing and I was honestly pulling for him in the end. I was gutted that his heart was broken. Not the mention he is the first Korean with a beard I’ve seen.

Those are the dramas that I’ve been obsessed with in the last month of 2015. I’m hoping for some more amazing romance dramas in 2016.

Until Next Time!

Quick Review: The Konjac Sponge

Hello Lovelies,

It is finally that time of the year where finals are done and I’m at home going through all my new Asian Beauty Products. My first review of my winter break is on the most important tool I have in my beauty routine. If you already have one of these, you know how drastically they can change your skin. If you don’t, you will want to get one immediately after this review.

This tool I am speaking of so highly is the Konjac Sponge.

This baby is the amazing Konjac sponge. Yeah, so this thing looks like a lump of coal and feels like one too before it is wet. At first, I was sceptical about this “amazing” sponge that had changed so many people’s faces. But let me tell you. You need this in your life. I use this in conjunction with my cleanser which at the moment is Perfect Whip Foam (which I will be doing a review for in the near future)  Let me just give you a preview on what it did to my skin.

  1. I used to have these weird bumps around my cheeks. Those are gone.
  2. I get cysts sometimes around my time of the month. They don’t last nearly as long.
  3. My makeup goes on so smooth. Like ridiculously smooth.

This is probably not all it has done for my skin but these are just the ones I can see on the surface. I don’t remember what specific brand I have, but a ton of Korean brands have them. As long as you take care of the sponge, it should last you quite a bit. You will need to replace it, but that goes for any type of beauty tool.

Needless to say, this tool is a 10/10 for me and if you don’t already have it, I highly recommend you picking it up.

Until Next Time!

Quick Review: [Holika Holika] Wonder Drawing No Smudge Liquid Eyeliner

Hello my lovelies,

I have been obsessed lately with the Korean trend of puppy dog eyeliner. I have rather almond-shaped eyes that seem a bit too upturned for my liking. I love using this trend to downturn my eyes and make them look soft and feminine. So I’ve been on a hunt for a new eyeliner that will not move on the course of a hard day at school. I’m at school for sometimes 8 hours at a time and with allergies my eyes can get watery. I was on the lookout for an eyeliner that was black and did not move.

I picked up the Holika Holika Wonder Drawing eyeliner from Jolse on Amazon. I didn’t know what to expect when I ordered it. I had heard next to nothing about the product so I went in blind. As soon as I got the product, I tried it out immediately.

First Impression: I was surprised at the packing. It was small and compact which I liked as I dislike bulky packaging. The design is slick and unassuming which I am like. As for the brush, it is similar to a small paintbrush. It is stiff but still has some flex to the wand. As for myself, I really like this style of brush as it makes it easier to control the movement. It doesn’t really have a specific smell at least nothing I can detect.

Formula: I was impressed on how well the formula glided onto my eyelids. The formula is also very black and slightly shiny which is not an issue for me. It dries really fast so there is no transferring of product into the crease or onto the lid if you need to blink. Now it gets into the tricky part, testing how long it lasts. This one was hard. I would say it lasts well for about 5 or 6 hours with no issues. Once you get into more advanced time, it does time to disappear. I would like to say that this disappearance is totally due to how watery my eyes are. I am constantly rubbing at my eyes as well. I am confident this would last even long if you don’t have these same problems.

Conclusion: I really enjoy this eyeliner for everyday use. It is easy to use and lasts for the majority of the day for my watery eyes. It only cost 6.95 for Jolse on Amazon and for that price I would say it is excellent at what it does. I like it better than some of my high-end brands of liquid liner. If you want an affordable and quality liquid eyeliner I would recommend this one 100%!

Quick Review: Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Manuka Honey Mask

NerdNoona Here!

After trying this mask for four weeks, I am happy to write this review. Since my skin leans to the dry/dehydrated side, I was immediately drawn to this Honey Mask. Honey is known for its moisturizing properties and I was excited to put this task to the test. I have always loved Innisfree products and I’ve always had really great results. So let us get into this review!

  1. First thing, this mask is very wet. There is a whole lot of serum in this mask. It was oozing out when I opened the package. I was amazingly surprised when I applied the mask to my face. It was very wet and felt amazing on the skin.
  2. Second thing, the smell is very faint. It is not a honey smell but a light fresh smell. I don’t particularly like the smell, but I am not averse to it.
  3. Third thing, this mask has a very universal fit to it. My face is on the smaller side but it wasn’t too huge on me, I was pleasantly surprised that this wasn’t so big that it went into my hair too much. It was big enough to go down my neck a little bit.
  4. Fourth and final thing, I am very surprised to say this mask is an amazing moisturizing mask. I left this mask on for approximately 25 to 30 minutes. When I took it off my skin left amazing. It was very smooth to the touch and felt very moisturized. In the morning, my makeup went on like a dream.

Final thoughts: I really enjoyed this mask. It had an amazing feel to the skin and I was pleasantly surprised because of the price point. I got mine from the amazon seller Jolse for 7.98 for a 5 piece set. They are amazing masks that are truly great for the price. If you have dry skin, you should try it!

Product Review: Etude House Color My Brows

NerdNoona Here!

School just started up so I have been busy getting in the groove of waking up super early and walking a million miles from my car to my classes. While I was ordering my books I pick up some products to get free shipping. Among the things I got (I will be doing reviews on all the products I got in the coming weeks) I picked up a brow mascara. I love having amazing looking brows that scream “I have time to look pretty”! Sometimes though, I don’t have time to sculpt my brows or I want my filled in brows to not move.

So while I was browsing Jolse’s shop on amazon, I spotted the Etude House Color My Brows and I fell in love.

I got the darkest color Rich Brown because my natural hair is black and my eyebrows are pretty dark themselves. At first when I got my package I was a little freaked out. The brow mascara was in a pretty light brow color and I was convinced it was the wrong one but as soon as I put it in my brows I was shown the light. This brow mascara is a beautiful natural color for my brows. The wand is small though not too small. It is small enough to not smear product all over my face but big enough to get the job done quickly. Not only does this product excel in color and application, it also has amazing stay power and makes my brows STAY! I have sweated all my makeup off but this stays put. It makes the brows a bit crispy to the touch but nothing too bad. I am so amazed at how well it really looks. I wear this alone or combined with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade in Ebony. Both ways look great and I have got numerous compliments on my brows when wearing this product. They have an amazing range of colors catering to every brow/hair color. I like that the formula is not INTENSELY pigmented. It brings color to the brows but doesn’t make them looks like you took a sharpie to your brows.

Here is a picture of the brow mascara on its own! Isn’t it beautiful!

Price: $5.97 USD on Jolse Amazon Shop

The price point is excellent for this brow mascara for the quality of the product

Final Remarks: If you love to have amazing brows, try this out. It is cheap and looks amazing on the brows. If you are busy, on the go, or just lazy about doing your brows, you need this .

Until Next Time,

NerdNoona ❤

PS: Now I have to go back to real life and do papers and read dry history articles.

The Dramas of the Summer

NerdNoona Here!

So it is summer time and you know what that means, endless free time to do nothing but watch Korean dramas. This summer I’ve been bogged down with two internships at the same time which means I don’t always have a ton of time to watch the summer dramas. The summer is one of my favorite times for dramas. It really seems like the good dramas tend to come out around the hot season. This summer is no different. I have currently been obsessed with three shows that have really captured my attention and made me stay up way past my bedtime.

This summer drama season has finally got some amazing Romantic Comedies  that I am crazy for. It seems like the last few cycles of dramas have been really heavy with barely any fun thrown in so I am happy that Rom Coms are coming back into fashion so to speak.

The First on my list is a cute little drama which throws in a little supernatural flair to break up the usual rom com formula. I am of course talking about Oh My Ghostess

This Rom Com follows a virgin ghost who can’t help but try to pop her ghost cherry. Her snarky attitude really brings a new life into a drama which had the potential to fail. Kim Seul Gi really plays the grudge holding Soon Ae well even though her parts are far and few between. Her flash backs are really one of my favorite parts of the drama. Na Bong Sun and Kang Sun Woo have a great chemistry that is hard to find in a lot of Rom Coms. I am really looking forward to seeing what else this drama has in store for me.

Next up is another Rom Com that has captured my attention. This rom com follows a girl who can’t lie and a boy who can’t dress, Pinocchio.

I just started this drama today and I can say I already love it to bits. I was immediately drawn to the drama because of the actress Park Shin Hye. She has got to be one of my favorites of the Korean drama industry. She has played in two of my favorite dramas, Heartstrings and Flowerboy Next Door. I adore her acting as you can really feel her emotions while she is acting. I’ve only watched one episode of this drama, but I can already feel the chemistry of the actors. I am extremely excited to see what this drama will bring.

Last but not least we have a Melodrama. This drama deals with debt, mental illness, and loss. The drama Mask really gives you turn after turn.

This is not my usual cup of tea, but I was intrigued none the less. This drama follows a woman, Ji Sook and later Eun Ha, who fakes her death to take the life of her doppelganger who is engaged to the traumatized CEO, Min Woo. This is a very deep drama that really leaves you on the edge of your seat. I really felt connected to Ji Sook/Eun Ha who are both caught in cages of their own. I’m on the fourth episode and I really feel that I am going to end up sobbing by the end of this drama.

And that brings the end of my new three summer drama obsessions. I am really pleased with what the summer dramas have to offer this year. When I finish these dramas, I will post a full review of each drama. If you are watching or have finished any of these dramas, let me know what you think!

Until Next Time!

PS: How is Lee Jong Suk so good looking! Ugh, I need to go to Korea.
